Case study

Private Mural

A bespoke intervention created to transform a residential space.

Completed large-scale mural inside a private residence

The challenge

The objective was to create a large-scale intervention that gave the space a distinctive identity while remaining integrated with the architecture of the home. The elevated wall and restricted access introduced an additional technical challenge, requiring careful planning, precision and safe execution without sacrificing detail.

My proposal

I designed a composition around the proportions of the wall and the viewpoint from which the mural would be experienced inside the residence. Scale, contrast and placement were developed to give the work presence without disrupting the harmony of the space.

The process

The mural was developed in stages, adapting each part of the composition to the height and access limitations of the site. The work had to be continually assessed from the lower level to ensure that the proportions and visual impact remained correct from the final viewing position.

The result

The mural turns a difficult and previously underused surface into one of the defining visual features of the residence, bringing character and a unique identity to the interior.
